Berkner High School (vs Jesuit)
ft Charlotte - the Future Bandolera?
Posted on 9th Oct 2013 by Paul
Last Saturday 28th September, Charlotte attended the annual Berkner Bandolera Clinic where younger girls are invited along to a workshop with the Bandolera Dance Troupe. For completing the day they have the privilege of being invited to a home game of the Berkner Rams (American) Football to perform a routine pre-game and be the honour guard for the team run out.
Our friends Kelli and Steve where there with their son, our godson, Tristan - it was Steve and Tristan's first EVER American Football Game in the flesh.
We all also got to stay the rest of the game, watch the RAMS win (sadly not on this occassion but they played a great game) and to watch the half time entertainment consisting of the visiting team band and dance troup and the home team band and dance troupe! So to give you a sense of an American School Team home performance (its more than just a game, here are some highlights from the evening (6pm to 10.30pm btw) AND REMEMBER - if the kids dont PASS their exams and keep up a passing grade average - they DON'T get to take part in any of this!
So lets get some pics and vids on the page!
Charlotte walking out with the other Future Bandolera's and Bandolera's - can you tell which is which?

(Right, hopefully my Google YouTube links work for the vids to be embedded in the page)

Like the T-Shirt Steve ............................Laid back pose from Tristan

So for the younger girls the Bando's do quite a simple routine in two lines to entertain the Mums and Dads at this end of the stadium.
There is also the Honor Guard for the Flags practising - watch out lads, those are sharp pointy metal sticks you got there.
And the group in the red tops are from the High School feeder schools, who did a band workshop and they get to perform with the Mighty RAM Band before the game.
;
After the rest for the Bands turn they take to the field again for some more entertainment / practising before the teams take the field.
And the teams take to the field with everyone cheering them on.
Trooping of the Colours, National Anthem and the field is cleared for the game to start.
And now the Half Time Entertainment - enjoy!
Jesuit College Prep School (Boys) and Ursuline Acadamy (Girls)
take the stage (field) first.
The Dance Troupe, the Band and its dancers all do very well.
We enjoyed their performance.
As did the rest of the crowd listening to the applause.
And NOW -
The Mighty RAM Band!
(seem to have a few more members than Jesuit)
ft The Berkner Bandolera's.
The Bando's
And the Band ....
The games into the second half, the band have retired to the Stands from the field, well I say retired, we take seats by them, they DO NOT STOP all the way through the game urging their team on, and having fun while they do it - notice all the juniors are interspersed amongst them, so they had a great time joining in :-)
CHOPS by the Trombone players - love this.
ps you may see Charlotte, Lance and Tristan in these vids bopping away to the band.
Lance lives next door but one to us and is Charlottes friend, and Tristan, our Godson.
Lance's big Brother is in the band by the way. Lance has just started to learn the Euphonium, I wonder if he will get to play it in the Mighty RAM Band?
As I said, no pass grade, no play, in sport, dance or band - these guys REALLY seem to enjoy what they do, and work hard to have the privilege to do it!
Tres, Tres Entertaining!
